Can you see the admiration in their eyes
The appreciation in the touch
Reaching out for you because they love you so much.
The wanting to be close to you
You can do no wrong in their minds
The cries because they can't go with you
The smiles and outstretched arms to be
Wrapped up in yours.
The feel of their heart beat as they on your chest.
The songs you sing to them, the stories you read
The first steps they take.
To the first words they speak.
All have you weak in the knees
And your heart melts. Feelings before them have never been felt.
You sit and watch them as they sleep.
The reflection of you so tiny and sweet.
You'd do anything to keep them from harm in the world
Drying all tears that fall.
Kissing all scrapped up knees.
You're there to teach them right from wrong.
To show them how to grow up and be strong
Be independent.
Resilient.
They may ask questions that have you laugh out loud
Or wonder where they even came from.
It's up to use to tell the truth to them.
It's the way the look at you when your having a bad day
And all those stressors seem to go away.
It's the unconditional, unresentful love they show you
It's the I LOVE YOU MOMMY and DADDY they tell you.
