Stand Up

My heart is hurting.
Youth dying at a rapid pace.
No one seeing the age of 21 instead staring down the barrel of a gun
Where did all the fun go?
When did it become unsafe to travel to the corner store.
Fearful we should all be.
But not just for the injustice that was once again placed upon us
BUT as a race we must start with our own issues.
Stop with the cursing of each other.
The belittling of our sisters an brothers.
Instead of calling eachother BITCH or NIGGA
But embrace each other with my sister or brother from another mother.
My soul is crying
The mistreatment in any event sends a chill down my spine.
Not even safe to go to hospitals anymore, because nurses or doctors feel that your a drug addict or a whore. Later to find your helpless body on the jail house floor.
All could have been avoided if they just listened to the plea of "HELP ME"
My spirit is weak.
Because as we speak someone unable to fight back is being attacked
Our baby of babies
Our newborns and toddlers
How they are unable to speak up for them self, so their feelings get put on back shelves. The next thing you know the family is crying at the coroners window and tiny caskets are being made.
So disgusted.
When?
When are we going to take to take responsibilty for what's happening in our backyards?
Fight against the real injustice, the kind that we place amongst eachother.
Stand up for the ones who are abused.
Speak out against the crimes committed against our African American youth. Not just the one's with our so called legal system, but the one's created in our neighborHOOD system.
Enslaved in our own stereotyped world where children don't have a chance to be little boys and girls. Mocking what they see on t.v. and parents saying "awww look at my baby." Can't read or write, but know's every line to a rap song.
My Heart is hurting for the dying youth
My Soul is crying searching for the truth
My Spirit is weak because the hushed mouths won't speak.
And we are slowly...becoming...extinct...
